Have you thought about working with a psychologist and then decided not to because you don’t know what to expect?

It can be a bit intimidating!

At Regenerative Psychology we want your journey to be as comfortable as possible. To help with this, we’ve put together a quick guide to our initial intake process…

The Process

01. Referral / Engagement

No referral is required to engage with Regenerative Psychology privately.

If you would like to claim from Medicare, DVA, Workers Compensation NSW, NSW CTP, WorkSafe Vic, TAC, Comcare, Workers Compensation QLD or another funding body a GP referral is required prior to commencement. This referral will need to be provided to Regenerative Psychology either by yourself or your GP.

Insurer approval may be required.

02. “Triage” and Booking

Once your referral or request for appointment has been received, Lauren will review the referral information to determine the best fit with our team.

Following triage, Lauren will request our administration team to get in touch to discuss fees, confirm your referral and arrange an appointments for you. You will have the option to nominate a preferred clincian, or we will recommend one based on appropriate skill set to suit your needs. We recommend booking a minimum of three appointments to secure a consistent time slot.

You will be sent intake paperwork via email (care of Halaxy) to complete prior to your first appointment. If you have difficulties with this, our support team will assist you, or if you are a face to face client this can be completed at the initial appointment.

03. initial appointment

The initial appointment is where we get to know you in more detail and develop a joint understanding of your needs and goals, we will then discuss preliminary treatment plans.

At the start of the session your clinician will review the consent form you will have reviewed at intake. They will then work through a semi-structured interview to get to know you. You will be asked a lot of questions about yourself, if at any point you are uncomfortable please let your clinician know. The appointment is intended to be collaborative in information gathering and will include a review of why you are seeking help and clarification of goals. If there is insufficient time to structure goals, this will occur in the second session.

04. Payment and scheduling future appointments

Medicare, and other rebates will be processed on your behalf once fees have been paid.

Options for payment include:

  • Preferred: Credit Card transaction (fees apply)
  • Alternate: Bank Transfer (please note, rebates will not be processed until payment clears into our bank account)

Booking follow up appointments

We recommend booking three appointments when we first contact you to ensure a regular time slot.

Additional appointments can be booked:

  • Directly with your clinician at the end of your appointment
  • Online via your “patient portal” (instructions here) or our website
  • By contacting our support team
