Neuroaffirming Assessments

Understand yourself. Celebrate your neurodiversity. Live more authentically.

At Regenerative Psychology, our adult autism and ADHD assessments are more than diagnostics, they’re opportunities to gain insight, strengthen self-acceptance, and build life strategies that truly fit how you think, feel, and operate.

Why an Assessment?

Strengthen Self-Identity & Acceptance

Many adults come to us after years of feeling “different” or misunderstood. A neuroaffirming assessment can help you make sense of lifelong patterns, reducing self-doubt and increasing self-compassion. It can offer relief, identity clarity, and a deeper sense of belonging within the neurodivergent community.

Create Strategies That Work for You

Knowing your neurotype makes it easier to build routines, supports, and structures that align with your brain, whether that’s work, study, relationships, or everyday living.

Improve Communication & Relationships

Understanding how you communicate, process information, or respond to sensory input helps you and people around you better understand one another, reducing conflict and strengthening connection.

Recognise Your Needs & Find Support

Your assessment can clarify your sensory, emotional, social and executive-functioning needs, helping you seek supports, accommodations, or adjustments where needed, without shame or doubt.

What We Offer

We offer three assessment pathways to fit your needs and goals:

Autism Assessment

Exploration of social communication, sensory and sensory-processing history, developmental background, diagnostic feedback.

ADHD Assessment

Examination of attention, executive functioning, regulation, life history, and personalised recommendations.

Note: we are psychologists so cannot prescribe medication. If medication is your goal, we recommend being assessed by a psychiatrist.

Combined Assessment

Integrated evaluation covering both neurotypes, valuable when traits overlap or it’s unclear which fits best.

Depending on your preference and needs, you can choose between a detailed full report (useful for workplace or NDIS applications) or a summary letter (suitable for personal understanding and self-advocacy).

Our Approach

  • Neurodiversity-Affirming & Strength-Based — We recognise neurological differences as variations of human wiring, not deficits to be “fixed.” Our language, methods, and feedback are respectful, validating, and grounded in acceptance.
  • Trauma-Informed & Context-Aware — We appreciate that many neurodivergent adults have experienced misunderstanding, masking, mental health struggles, or environmental strain. Our assessments are delivered with care, sensitivity, and flexibility.
  • Collaborative & Individualised — You are the expert in your own life. Our work honours your lived experience, priorities, and unique profile, we adapt the assessment process to what makes sense for you.

How the Assessment Works

Initial Enquiry & Intake

Reach out via phone or online booking. We’ll send a short intake form with background questions and screening tools.

First Consult & Planning

We meet (via secure telehealth or in-person if preferred) to review your history, discuss what you hope to get from assessment, and plan the best evaluation path.

Assessment Sessions

Depending on package: structured interviews, diagnostic tools, possible psychometric testing. Sessions are spaced with your comfort, scheduling, and rural context in mind.

Report or Summary + Feedback

You receive a full report or summary letter detailing findings and recommendations. A feedback session lets you ask questions, clarify results, and plan next steps.

Payment, Rebates & Accessibility

We aim to make assessment accessible and manageable. We offer flexible payment plans when needed, and provide a choice between full report or summary letter to suit different needs and budgets.

(Note: Where detailed documentation is needed — such as for disability support applications — a full report is usually more suitable.)

Is this right for me?

If you’re unsure, we encourage you to contact us, many adults begin with a standard consult to explore whether formal assessment is right for them.

  • Have always felt “different,” overwhelmed, or misunderstood
  • Suspect they may be neurodivergent but missed diagnosis earlier in life
  • Experience chronic sensory, executive-function or relational challenges
  • Want clarity for workplace or study adjustments, or personal insight
  • Value supportive, respectful, and identity-affirming psychological work

Frequently Asked Questions

A neuroaffirming approach recognises that neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of human variation. Instead of viewing ADHD or autism as deficits, we focus on understanding each person’s strengths, challenges, sensory needs, communication preferences, and support systems. Our assessments are collaborative, respectful, and aligned with your lived experience.

No. You can self-refer for an ADHD or autism assessment. If you wish to claim Medicare rebates for related appointments, a referral from a GP may be helpful, but it is not required for the assessment itself.

Each assessment includes:

  • A comprehensive clinical interview
  • Validated assessment tools
  • Review of developmental history
  • Optional input from family, teachers, or partners
  • A written report with personalised recommendations
  • A feedback session to discuss results and next steps

We tailor the process to your communication style, sensory needs, and pacing preferences.

Assessment time varies depending on your history, needs, and whether you are seeking an ADHD assessment, autism assessment, or both. Most people complete the process over 2–3 appointments, with report writing completed once full payment has been received.

Yes, we provide high-quality, neuroaffirming assessments via secure telehealth for people across rural and regional Australia.

Yes. We only provide adult ADHD and autism assessments, including for people who were missed in childhood or who are exploring their neurodivergence later in life.

If your results meet diagnostic criteria and a diagnosis is appropriate, you will receive a formal diagnosis that can be used for accessing workplace adjustments, university support, etc. Results with the NDIS vary based on your local service – we’ve had reports accepted in some regions and rejected in others.

No. A psychiatrist or GP depending on region, is required to prescribe medication. For anyone specifically seeking medication, we recommend assessment by a psychiatrist.

Many clients come to us unsure. Our assessment process is designed to explore your experiences holistically and consider the full neurodivergent profile, including overlap between ADHD and autism.

You’ll receive a detailed report and a follow-up session to discuss results, practical next steps, and tailored recommendations. We can also support you with ongoing therapy, or referrals to other services if needed.
